Benefits And Uses Of Frankincense Oil


Frankincense Oil is one of my favorite essential oils! Therefore, I use it on my skin for anti-aging, and several blends for calming. I also use it for immune support and for cellular.

Frankincense essential oil is obtained from the dried and distilled resin of the Frankincense tree, which is native to specific regions of Africa and the Middle East. So it is considered to be a “pure incense,”and it was the most desirable of all the other types of incense.

It’s usually used in aromatherapy and the sedative and comforting fragrance are believed to strengthen and invigorate the respiratory system. And it can be used cosmetically, medicinally, and for eliminating surface and airborne bacteria.


It is believed to reduce feelings of anxiety and stimulate the immune system. Pinene is known to strengthen and invigorate the respiratory system. And is reported to have diuretic properties based on empirical evidence. Also, Borneol contributes tonic, anesthetic, sedative and anti-spasmodic properties to this oil.

Frankincense oil stimulates the growth of new cells, thus when used on cuts, it promotes faster healing. It’s sweet, woody aroma is sedative and enhances mood. Thereby diminishing feelings of stress and anxiety while improving concentration and memory.

Frankincense oil helps to disinfect and tighten the pores, so thereby promoting the speedy healing of cuts, wounds, and scars. Also used to relieve flatulence and stimulate the growth of new skin cells. It also stimulates blood flow and circulation among other competencies.

The Frankincense essential oil can be added to a diffuser or vaporizer and inhaled for its sedative. Because of its earthy fragrance, it lessens stress, anxiety and enhances good mood. In addition to it, A few drops of Frankincense can kill airborne bacteria when applied to a diffuser. It can also be mixed with water to create an air freshening spray. Also, if sprayed in a bedroom at night, it can help achieve a state of relaxation and readiness for sleep.

It can be used topically with a carrier oil. In a relaxing bath, a few drops of the oil can be added to relieve stress. It’s used in cosmetics to produce natural homemade anti-aging facial serums by combining Frankincense with other essential oils and diluting the mixture. It is sometimes used in shampoos and is supposed to help strengthen hair roots.

This anti-septic oil makes a natural homemade cleaner and disinfectant to cleanse indoor environments. Thereby, eliminates harmful bacteria and deodorize any rooms in the home. When mixed with baking soda and lemon essential oil, it makes a scrubbing substance. In addition, it can be used to absorb grease and leave the area unsoiled and aromatic. To use it with a dishcloth, blend it with water and Thyme essential oil to wipe down surfaces like counter tops.

Frankincense does have emmenagogue properties, which can induce menstruation that can be harmful to a fetus. So pregnant women are advised against using straight Frankincense essential oil. Pregnant and nursing women who insist on using it are advised to first seek the medical guidance of a physician or midwife. The oil should always be stored in an area that is inaccessible to children, or they might end up wasting your precious oil.
