Today is my daughter Raquel’s birthday, who passed away from Glioblastoma in June of 2015. After Raquel passed, I thought it would be so wonderful to have a song written in her honor, but I didn’t know how that would ever happen. So its so great that there’s song by Cherie Call dedicated to Raquel!

1 year after her passing, one of my favorite music artists, Cherie Call, announced a Kickstarter campaign for her new kids album, The Buddy System. My husband and I had loved her music for years, so I was excited about the new album. One of the rewards for contributing to the project, was having Cherie or her partner write a song. I knew this was the opportunity I had been waiting for!

I contributed and Cherie wrote the song, a Song By Cherie Call Dedicated to Raquel. It was just as beautiful as I imagined it would be. Cherie was so sweet through the process. And I think she really went the extra mile. She recorded herself singing it, with a gorgeous piano accompaniment. The more I listened to it, the more I loved it.

I was saving it as a surprise for my husband, family and Raquel’s friends to unveil on her birthday. Before the date, I asked Cherie if we could set up sale of the song, and have the proceeds go to benefit Days for Girls in Cedar City, which I started in Raquel’s honor. Cherie said yes! So I’m very excited to announce the new release of the song entitled, “Just From Loving You.”

Here’s a personal note that Cherie Call wrote about the song.

“It was an honor to write this song about Raquel. As a parent, the thought of losing a child is so overwhelming. I didn’t know Raquel personally but it was amazing to learn about her through the lens of such a loving mother. It is inspiring to see the sweet, positive power that Jenni has summoned as she honors Raquel by serving others. I’m grateful for this song to be a part of that.” –Cherie Call

This song was written and performed by Cherie Call and dedicated to Raquel Wilson, who passed away June 2015 from Glioblastoma. The proceeds from the sale of this song will go to the Cedar City Chapter of Days for Girls International, which provide hygiene kits to girls around the world so they can stay in school and not be exploited.
