dōTERRA Is Vindicated in Young Living Trial
800 547 Jenni

SALT LAKE CITY—June 22, 2017—doTERRA is pleased to report that after five years of defending baseless allegations by Young Living, all charges against doTERRA and its defendants have been dismissed. Not surprisingly, a jury of our peers found no merit in Young Living’s allegations and rejected every single one of Young Living’s claims for damages. Young Living’s abuse of our judicial system in an effort to slander doTERRA is finally over.

“We are pleased and grateful that the official court record now reflects the true genesis story of doTERRA—one of integrity, rectitude and hope,” said Dave Stirling, founding executive, chairman and CEO of doTERRA. “We are vindicated and look forward to moving past this baseless lawsuit and continuing our mission of sharing the purest essential oils with the world. We hope that Young Living will now move forward with its own business challenges and stop wasting resources on frivolous matters.”

When Young Living first filed this lawsuit in 2012 (nearly five years after the events allegedly occurred), it was quickly made apparent that the object was not legal justice, but rather a sinister and desperate marketing campaign to try to halt doTERRA’s remarkable ascension. Its campaign failed as doTERRA became the largest and most recognized leader in essential oils years ago. In 2012, Young Living widely distributed a video of Gary Young heralding the filing of this lawsuit accusing doTERRA and doTERRA leaders of a veritable cornucopia of improper actions. Young Living put a link on its homepage to—a site that made all sorts of now refuted allegations. Young Living pushed propaganda about this lawsuit through every means imaginable. Young Living even hired an “expert” who astoundingly quantified the estimated damages at $350,008,747. Young Living continued its disinformation campaign until the court began throwing out claim after claim because Young Living did not have any facts to back up its allegations. All of sudden the Gary Young video was removed and the prominent link to was taken down.

Background: The Young Living trial against doTERRA commenced on May 22, 2017 in the Fourth Judicial Court in Provo, Utah, with Judge Christine Johnson presiding. Long before the trial even began, all claims against doTERRA had already been thrown out. All of the claims against many other named defendants also had been dismissed. Only four individual defendants remained: David Stirling, Emily Wright, Justin Harrison and Lil Shepherd. At issue in the trial were 13 total allegations that David, Emily, Justin and Lil breached their respective non-solicitation clauses (these clauses prevented them from soliciting any Young Living employees or distributors to join another company within a specified period time—six months for David and Emily and one year for Justin and Lil—after leaving Young Living).

Public court records now confirm that in 2007, David, Emily, Justin and Lil were all employed by Young Living, but they were becoming increasingly dissatisfied (and outright offended) by the way Young Living was conducting its business. Because of Gary Young’s outrageous practices, Young Living’s unequal and discriminatory pay for women, the diminishing quality of many of Young Living’s essential oils and Young Living’s relentless pressure to lie about the output of the Young Living farms to prop up the emerging Seed to Seal marketing scheme, each of them left Young Living.

David was fired in August 2007 and Emily quit a month later. They, along with other founders, eventually began planning what would soon become doTERRA, but, as the court found, assiduously avoided soliciting any Young Living distributors until they were contractually free to do so. Justin and Lil both quit in February 2008 and joined doTERRA soon after. Again, the court found that neither Justin nor Lil improperly solicited Young Living distributors before their respective “lock-out” periods expired.

In fact, the court’s decision shows that it was a wasteful and conniving use of our country’s legal system. What became abundantly clear through the course of the trial was not only that these four did not breach their contracts, but that they went to extraordinary steps to ensure they upheld their agreements. Over the past five years, even as no evidence of wrongdoing was ever disclosed, Young Living had countless opportunities to end this travesty. Nevertheless, despite having its case continually whittled down and now completely dismissed, it doggedly pursued its unfounded allegations to the bitter end.

Sworn court testimony and exhibit after exhibit conclusively showed that the 13 former Young Living distributors in question (as well as thousands of other now former Young Living distributors) left Young Living because they too were fed up with Gary Young’s bad acts and were searching for an essential oil company that guaranteed the highest quality essential oils, transparency in its business practices and honesty in its claims about the products. That company was and remains doTERRA.

“Today, we are gratified that an objective judge and jurors found that doTERRA had not done anything wrong and accordingly awarded no damages,” said Emily Wright, founding executive and head of sales and marketing at doTERRA. “Throughout this wasteful attack by Young Living and their rotating executive team, doTERRA has continued to impact more and more lives for good as we increase the doTERRA customer base in the United States and throughout the world.  We look forward to a continued bright future at doTERRA.”

Last summer I started working on organizing my cluttered house. It had been overly cluttered after 10 years at least of a regular yard selling addiction, or better yard shopping!

It had gotten to the point where stuff was crammed into every closet and corner it seemed like, and I felt like it was all starting to cave in on me.

I had a little help from an amazing women who calls her self the “Project Queen”, you can check out her Facebook page HERE

*More time for the important things (instead of spending an hour looking for something)
*More money (we are not double purchasing things we thought were out or gone due to not being able to see or find them)
*Less arguing (usually from kids not being able to find their stuff)
*Healthier (from less stress, being able to find and throw out things that go bad and easier to clean)

Song By Cherie Call Dedicated to Raquel Wilson
800 547 Jenni

Today is my daughter Raquel’s birthday, who passed away from Glioblastoma in June of 2015. After Raquel passed, I thought it would be so wonderful to have a song written in her honor, but I didn’t know how that would ever happen.

I year after her passing, one of my favorite music artists, Cherie Call, announced a Kickstarter campaign for her new kids album, The Buddy System. My husband and I had loved her music for years, so I was excited about the new album. One of the rewards for contributing to the project, was having Cherie or her partner write a song. I knew this was the opportunity I had been waiting for!

I contributed and Cherie wrote the song. It was just as beautiful as I imagined it would be. Cherie was so sweet through the process, and I think she really went the extra mile. She recorded herself singing it, with a gorgeous piano accompaniment. The more I listened to it, the more I loved it.

I was saving it as a surprise for my husband, family and Raquel’s friends to unveil on her birthday. Before the date, I asked Cherie if we could set up sale of the song, and have the proceeds go to benefit Days for Girls in Cedar City, which I started in Raquel’s honor. Cherie said yes! So I’m very excited to announce the new release of the song entitled, “Just From Loving You.”

Here’s a personal note that Cherie Call wrote about the song.

“It was an honor to write this song about Raquel. As a parent, the thought of losing a child is so overwhelming. I didn’t know Raquel personally but it was amazing to learn about her through the lens of such a loving mother. It is inspiring to see the sweet, positive power that Jenni has summoned as she honors Raquel by serving others. I’m grateful for this song to be a part of that.” –Cherie Call

Here is the video I created with the new song, Just From Loving You.

This song was written and performed by Cherie Call and dedicated to Raquel Wilson, who passed away June 2015 from Glioblastoma. The proceeds from the sale of this song will go to the Cedar City Chapter of Days for Girls International, which provide hygiene kits to girls around the world so they can stay in school and not be exploited.

We have listened to and loved Cherie Call’s music for years, and you can be inspired by it too! Just visit her website at

Scripture Art in New York City
800 600 Jenni

While in New York, my husband and I attended church with my brother and his wife. Their chapel happened to be in the same building as the temple, and lining the hallways were some of most incredible paintings. The artist, Walter Rane, chose stories from the Book of Mormon, and illustrated them through his paintings. They were so touching and made the Book of Mormon come alive for me!

The Book of Mormon is an ancient record starting with a family that sailed from Jerusalem around 600 b.c. and is an account of them and their ancestors as they began their lives in the Americas.

This first illustration begins as their father, Lehi, receives direction from God to take his family and flee from the city of Jerusalem just before it was invaded by the Babylonians. In an action of faith, their family packed all the belongings they could and set off into the wilderness, following their fathers guidance.

After many months in the wilderness, and after having to return to Jerusalem twice, they received direction from on high to build a boat to cross the sea. Nephi, Lehi’s most obedient son, has a very personal experience with Heavenly Father in which he receives specific instructions on how this boat must be built. They are told that they will be protected and guided as long as they are obedient and faithful to the commandments the Lord has given them.

After the boat is constructed and they set sail, Nephi’s two rebellious brothers, Laman and Lemuel, make light of the commandments, and lose the favor of the Lord. As Nephi exhorts them to repent, in anger they tie him to the mast. This painting is a depiction of the storm that ensues after their disobedience to the Lord and Nephi’s pleadings. As you can see, Lehi (their father) is heart broken by his sons rebellion and all of their lives are put at peril by this storm. After 3 days of this vicious storm, Laman and Lemuel realize they aren’t going to survive, and immediately untie Nephi and repent of their sins. The storm abates and they are saved.

Many generations later, after establishing themselves in the Americas, an account is written of Enos, and his search for forgiveness and guidance from God. He retreats to the forest one day to seek his Creator, and after many hours of prayer and soul searching, he has a very touching spiritual experience. In this encounter he learns of God’s love for him, and receives a remission of all his sins. It’s such a beautiful testimony of God’s desire to forgive us, and His all encompassing love for us.

This story is of Alma in the courts of the wicked king Noah. The king, in his unrighteous rule, murders a prophet of God who comes to the city preaching. Before the burning of this prophet, he is questioned before the king’s court, in which he prophesies of the divinity of God, explains the commandments and condemns the king for his evil practices. Although the prophet does not escape, his testimony is carried on through Alma, who upon hearing the prophet, flees from the court and goes into hiding.

The king, enraged that one of his men has believed the preachings, sends an army out to kill Alma. Alma successfully avoids the king’s attempts to find him, and begins to preach in the forest. Many believe the words Alma teaches them and wish to repent. Alma was able to baptize all who wished to become part of the church of God, and over 200 people joined the church that day.

King Noah is eventually killed, and Alma becomes the high priest of the land, guiding in righteousness. However, Alma’s son (Alma the younger) begins to create problems as he rebels against his family and God, and goes about wrecking havoc among the believer in the church throughout their city. His parents pray for many years on his behalf, and they plead with Heavenly Father to somehow help their son return to the faith.

One day, Alma the younger and his friends are stopped in their tracks by an angel of God, who commands them to stop the wickedness they are doing (very much like Paul’s vision in the New Testament). Alma falls unconscious from the shock of the experience, and his friends carry him back to his house. The title on this picture is “and his father rejoiced”. His parents knew the Lord had answered their prayers. The saints all prayed and fasted on Alma’s behalf, and after 3 days he awoke, proclaiming his adoration for his Savior and testifying of the gospel. During those three days he had a very personal experience that he explains in detail in the Book of Mormon. He made a complete turn around, and spent the rest of his days preaching and trying to undo the damage he had done.

Alma and his sons go about preaching in the land, but after time their begins to be contentions, and the righteous are forced to create an army to protect themselves from those who wish to destroy the church of God. Wars break out throughout the land, and those who believed in Christ began to call themselves “christians” to distinguish themselves from those who wished to destroy them. This touching painting is of Moroni, the captain of the army, who refuses to be tricked by the lies and deception of their enemies. He rallies the troops of the army, and swears to God to help these faithful believers protect their religion, their families and their lives.

After hearing of many saints who fall away from the church because of the lies of unbelievers, Moroni rips his coat off and writes on it “in memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives and our children”. He then ties it to a pole, and uses it as a symbol of devotion to their cause. Many covenant with Moroni to defend all that they hold dear, and with the help from God, victoriously take back their land, and peace is once again established.

During Alma’s sons preachings, they had converted a city of very wicked people, who had been accustomed to murdering, secret oaths and all other sorts of evil. Upon their conversion, they realized how horrific their actions had been, and swore to God they would never take up the sword again. Because of their oath, they were unable to defend themselves, so the christians promised to always protect them from their enemies. During the battles however, they saw the desperate need for soldiers, and began to contemplate breaking the oath they had made to God to be able to help the christians defend themselves. They were convinced not to by their leaders, but their sons that had been too young to make the oath at the time, volunteered to go to war.

This touching account explains the pure faith and determination that these two thousand young boys had as they stepped onto the battle field. Many were humbled to see the valiant courage they showed as they truly believed God would protect them. Because of the faith of these men, the prayers of their mothers and their steadfastness, not a single of these two thousand warriors were killed in battle. Although many had severe injuries, they were all miraculously saved, because (as the title of the painting says) they “put their trust in God”.

These touching stories of valiant individuals are just a few of the many that are written about in the Book of Mormon, but between and throughout all these beautiful events, there are prophets who spend their time testifying of a Redeemer. Like just in the Bible, the Book of Mormon is an account of prophets exhorting their people to repent and prepare for the day Christ would be born in Jerusalem.

They testify of the need that we have for this Savior, and who He would be. The testimonies of Christ and His future birth which are throughout the entire book, are beautiful demonstrations of the truthfulness of its contents. While the Bible was being written on the other side of the world, we had prophets in the Americas testifying of the same thing. God didn’t just prepare one nation for the birth of His son, but two.

One specific prophet that testifies of the birth of Christ is Samuel. He dedicated himself to the Lord and went from city to city proclaiming that the birth of the Savior would be soon, and that the people needed to repent and prepare themselves for His coming. He testified that although the Savior would be born on another continent, the people of the Americas would still receive a sign of his birth, and that on that day, there would be a day and a night and a day without darkness when the sun set. He also testified of the appearance of a new star in the heavens. As he went from place to place, he was continuously rejected, spit upon and cast out. In this painting, it portrays a very important moment, when Samuel was once again kicked out of a city, and was walking back dejected. As he was returning to his own land, he was stopped in his path by an angel of the Lord and was commanded to return to the city to preach about this event that soon would come.

As commanded, Samuel returned and once again explained to them about this sign that would prove the birth of the Lord. Those who reviled him, decided to put his testimony to the test, and on the day that he had testified of, they told all those who believed him that if the sun set and it got dark, all would be murdered. The faithful believers who knew Samuel was telling the truth had their faith put to test. On the eve of the day Samuel had predicted, a beautiful miracle occurred. There was a day a night and a day without darkness, and a new star appeared, testifying that the Savior had indeed been born. There was much rejoicing among the Christians, and many of those who had ridiculed and mocked fell in shock and fear. Many more were baptized into the church, and began to believe all the prophesies that had been given.

Along with Samuel’s prophesies about the signs we would receive about the birth of the Savior, the prophets had also testified of the time Christ would come to visit the inhabitants of America. Although he would live and die in Jerusalem, He would come to visit His people in America as a resurrected being. Towards the end of the Book of Mormon we come to the crowning event of the visitation of the resurrected Christ. The testimonies of those present and the teachings from Him that are recorded, are beautiful accounts testifying of the divinity of our Savior.

When He appeared, He allowed all present to feel the wounds in his hands, and see the wounds in His feet, as a testimony of his crucifixion. He preached to them, and many of the teachings He shared are found in the Bible as well. He shared with them all He’d shared with the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and blessed them for the faith they had shown in His coming. Along with His teachings he established the church in its complete form with twelve apostles and the authority to act in His name. He also instituted the ordinance of sacrament, to remember His sacrifice and continually receive a remission of sins. When it was time for Him to depart, upon seeing the sadness of those who didn’t want Him to go, He asked for all the sick and afflicted to be brought to Him so that He could heal them.

In this next image, we have a depiction of the sweet moment when while the Savior was there, He asked for the little children to be brought to Him. As the little children were brought to him, the people stood in awe as they witnessed the heavens open and angels came down and encircled them about and ministered to them.

Before His departure He commanded them to continue to record all that they have witnessed, so that the Book of Mormon, with this incredible event, could come forth in the last days before His second coming, to strengthen and prepare all His children. The event is recorded, and the inhabitants are left in awe. They continued in righteousness and peace for hundreds of years after Christ’s visitation, but with time, wickedness and unbelief once more began in the land.

Vicious war broke out, and there was no longer enough righteousness in the land to receive all the divine help they needed to be victorious. As the Book of Mormon comes to an end, all the righteous either abandon their ways, or were killed. The Book of Mormon was hid up in the ground to come forth at a later date when the earth was once again ready for guidance. This last image is one of the last prophets, as he mourns the death of his father, Mormon, and of all his people.

The Book of Mormon is another witness that Jesus Christ lives and is the Savior of the world. This book has inspired me more times than I can count over my lifetime. It sheds so much more light on the Plan of Happiness given us by our Heavenly Father, and helps us understand how He communicates with His children.

My Trip To NYC!
960 720 Jenni

Guess where we’ve been this week?!

First day of our trip to New York we went to see the Statue of Liberty and the immigration museum on Ellis Island. Then we took a walking tour of slavery and the underground railroad. That was poignant and fascinating. In the evening we went to see the Broadway production of The Color Purple. The talent was incredible and the story touched us both. I’m so glad we did these things, which were so much more meaningful and educational than basic shopping and sightseeing would have been.

We got a New York pass that got us free entrance into walking tours and many attractions. I would highly recommend getting it!

On our second day in New York City we took a walking tour of West Harlem, otherwise known as Hamilton Heights. Our tour guide had many interesting stories to share with us. We visited New York City College, where my sister-in-law goes to school, and it was gorgeous! We saw the homes of some famous people including Scott Joplin.

Then we hit the Museum of Modern art and I saw my favorite Van Gogh paintings. We finished the evening catching a glimpse of George Gershwin’s pad. So fun, but I should’ve done more walking before hand to prepare for doing three walking tours in a row! ?

On our third day in New York we took a walking tour of Soho, little Italy and Chinatown. I had some amazing Italian food and the gelato was incredible! We found a great little place that made fried potstickers for a quarter apiece. That’s the cheapest meal you’ll find in New York City! Then we found a little Asian massage place to give us foot rubs for a tired legs after all that walking. We rode around on the big bus tour for the rest of the afternoon seeing the sights and listening to a sarcastically funny tour guide. I think if we had taken kids with us on this trip, they would have been whining through all these tours!?

Saturday we drove up to Connecticut to visit my cousin and her husband, and see the beautiful Hartford Connecticut temple (not to mention the beautiful fall leaves too). We even got a personal tour!

Our last day we attended church which happens to be in the same building as the new york temple with my brother and his wife. There were some beautiful paintings that really touched me, but that will be in my next post…

At some point we might take our kids to New York, but on this trip we didn’t. We knew that they would be bored by the walking tours and not to mention it’s expensive! We had a great time and look forward to the next time we’ll be able to return and visit again!

Is it…

  • Having a Walmart budget when you’d like to shop at Whole Foods?
  • Feeling overwhelming by all the changes you’ll need to make?

doTERRA Breaks the Pattern For Sourcing Essential Oils
800 547 Jenni
doTERRA has broken the traditional, problematic pattern for sourcing essential oils. They created a model called Co-Impact Sourcing which is very different from the way most other essential oil companies do business, and they reimburse growers, harvesters and distillers year round and more generously for their work. This ensures the highest quality.
Most other essential oil companies source and purchase through middle men, which presents problems with quality all along the production chain. They all want to make the most money, and that is usually the priority for all involved.
The growers use poor growing practices because they are so desperate for money that they will harvest out of season and even stop producing when they aren’t paid enough or at all by the middle men. This is one of the reasons why many companies are not able to source certain precious oils right now.
Just using Frankincense as an example, it is sourced mainly in Somolia, which is a very impoverished country. The harvesters have not been getting paid enough or at all by the middle men. The leading cause of death for the men is falling out of the trees when they are harvesting. No companies have wanted to travel to that county themselves, because it is dangerous. But doTERRA owners went, because they wanted the highest quality oils, and they wanted to help the people in that country. So the president and the VP (a woman) traveled there themselves 3 years ago, and met with some people in the government. They told them they wanted to source oils there and help the country.
They got the green light, and then assembled a group of numerous tribe leaders, who hadn’t been in the same room for decades. They told them they wanted to source the Frankincense there and pay appropriate wages for the work, year round, so the men could support their families. They also told them that doTERRA’s charity organization, Healing Hands, would come in and build a school for their children. In return, they would need to produce a certain amount regularly, and with high quality standards. The people joyously agreed.
Now there is a school there, and even though the people only wanted boys to attend it (as per the traditions there), doTERRA insisted that girls attend also and the school is functioning. We had also been enjoying the highest quality Frankincense oil on the market. The entire country knows who doTERRA is and that they practice fair trade. This is only one example of how doTERRA is improving the standards of living and sourcing in whole countries at a time, worldwide. No other companies source this responsibly, to this extent.
This short video tells more about the co impact sourcing.
Here is another video about quality:

doTERRA wanted to make their high quality oils affordable for normal people, and competitive for retailers. I have many retailers that I service. If you really want the highest quality essential oils, with the best extraction technology, then you won’t find better than doTERRA overall. And you can get the best prices, of under HALF OFF the retail. Learn how HERE.
Please consider the truth of what is actually happening in this industry, instead of judging because of the business model. doTERRA is not like any other company you’ve ever seen, I promise. It’s amazing, and created by a group of people with integrity, concern for the fairness of all, and the skills needed to educate, empower and improve the lives of people all over the world through these beautiful tools for healing.

doTERRA Trip to Dominican Republic
1024 768 Jenni

I was able to get my husband, Mike, to go with me on doTERRA’s trip this year to the Dominican Republic. It was to be a mix of fun and service projects. It was even more fun that my sister, Emili, and her husband, Dallon, were there with us too.

We had a great time with friends…

and just hanging out on the beach.

There was a sand castle building contest,

Peppermint Palace

And someone even built a replica of doTERRA headquarters.

We did some service, putting bikes together for kids.

We also put together some wheelchairs (this is my friend Melissa)…

and school kits (featuring my sister Emili and I). We also got in on another AWESOME service project called Days For Girls, and I will tell you about that in another post.

Kits with Emili

I think service is lots of fun!

It was an all-inclusive resort, so the food was good, but just okay sometimes. Mike doesn’t like resorts, so he wanted to get out and try some real Dominican food. We met an awesome server named Carlos, in one of the restaurants, and asked him if he would take us out for some local food and shopping. We had an awesome time!

Shopping in DR

The food was terrific and so was the shopping (although I don’t know if the guys would agree about the shopping part).

Mike and I took an excursion where we did some snorkeling, speed boat driving, and something called snuba (which is a little like snorkeling, but you only go down 10 feet).

It was a very fun trip!

Mike got a chance to talk with the doTERRA executive over their Healing Hands Foundation, and he heard about all the amazing service doTERRA is doing all over the world. He was very impressed. So impressed with the many ways they are helping people, that he decided to join in doing my doTERRA business with me. Hooray!
